TRADITIONAL LESSONS
OVERVIEW
Traditional lessons are, generally, for children and adults, kindergarten-aged or older. Students should be able to identify letters and numbers, and be able to attend for at least 20-30 minutes. A traditional 1:1 lesson format is used, with standard repertoire based on student needs and interest, and teacher style.
Traditional lessons are provided one time per week, for at least 30 minutes. Longer lessons are available, if appropriate for the student. Lessons are scheduled at the same day and time each week, and take place at MTEC. We do not provide in-home lessons.
Traditional lessons are available for piano, guitar (classical, acoustic, electric, bass), ukulele, voice, banjo, harmonica, and composition. Lessons are also available for beginner band instruments!
PIANO: Piano lessons are for children and adults, kindergarten-aged or older. If a potential student is younger than kindergarten, please see our Pre-Music Lessons page.
GUITAR: Strong fine-motor skills are required for guitar playing, so some young children may not be ready for guitar lessons yet.
UKULELE: Kindergarten-aged children through adults are able to learn to play the ukulele. If a potential student is younger than kindergarten, please see our Pre-Music Lessons page.
VOICE: Voice lessons are generally not appropriate for children younger than 10-12 years of aged, based on vocal chord development. Some younger children may benefit.
BANJO, HARMONICA & COMPOSITION: These lessons are generally available for teenagers and adults. However, some younger students may benefit.
